Abstract

This conceptual article proposes a meaning-first audit for Arabic–Indonesian post-editing instruction. A directed narrative review is combined with constructed source sentences and hypothetical draft translations. The analysis distinguishes linguistic fluency from semantic fidelity and separates errors in negation, participant relations, temporal reference, and register. A proposed audit record documents the initial decision, supporting evidence, revised wording, and the justification for accepting or rejecting a suggested edit. The draft outputs are teaching illustrations, not results generated by a tested translation system. The framework links revision portfolios to an independent transfer task so that an improved product is not automatically interpreted as improved translator competence. No learner corpus or model comparison is presented. Future studies need authentic texts, documented tool conditions, and independent assessment of meaning preservation and decision quality.
