Abstract

This article develops a protocol-informed synthesis of contemporary Qur’anic hermeneutics, asking how scholars justify relations among textual form, historical context, moral reasoning, and interpretive authority. Twenty-one publisher-identified scholarly papers (2021–2025) form an illustrative portfolio rather than a final systematically screened corpus. An explicit framework distinguishes historical-contextual, textual-philological, ethical-normative, and authority-epistemic warrants. The illustrative literature shows that contextualist arguments rely on different theological premises; translation and rhetoric perform interpretive work; and ethical readings differ in how they defend normative judgments. These observations establish analytic questions, not estimates of the field or evidence of method superiority. Database exports, independent full-text screening, critical appraisal, and numerical PRISMA accounting remain incomplete. The resulting framework offers transparent extraction criteria and a route toward a reproducible humanities-sensitive review, but should not be presented as a completed systematic review.
