This study aims to describe the implementation and effectiveness of the "Sorogan" method in the learning of Arabic grammar (nahwu) at Al-Mahrusiyah Islamic Boarding School, Lirboyo, Kediri. This method is one of the traditional approaches still widely used in salaf (traditional) Islamic boarding schools to deepen students’ understanding of Arabic grammar. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the Sorogan method is implemented in two forms: general (informal), conducted independently by students, and specific, carried out through an official program under the Lembaga Bahtsul Masail (LBM), which follows a structured curriculum and learning stages. Overall, this method is effective in improving students’ understanding of grammatical rules due to the direct and intensive interaction between teachers and students. However, challenges remain, such as limited time, facilities, and the narrow scope of teaching materials. Therefore, developing and adapting the Sorogan program is essential to meet the needs of students and keep pace with contemporary educational demands.
